successfully carried out when the party came under heavy MG from the right which wounded Capt HIGSON in the hand - He continued to direct the withdrawal until he fell mortally wounded. The whole of the party returned safely and all casualties were brought in.

Casualties 1 Officer a/Captain F.S.HIGSON M.C. killed - 1 O.R. killed. 1 O.R. wounded.

On night 31st August/1st Sept the Battalion was relieved by the 18th Welsh, and on completion of relief moved into Brigade Reserve. The disposition of the companies was as follows:

A Coy  &  B.H.Q. in Gouzeaucourt - TRESCAULT Rd Q 30 d. 8.8
C & B Coys near QUENTIC MILL R 31d
D Coy in sunken road in Q 29 d.

The following offciers reported for duty and were posted as follows:
